Category two and three fires are currently banned in most of the Northwest Fire Centre, though some exemptions may be made for the latter.
However, with the region covering a large area, some areas are still dealing with snowy conditions.
In light of this, the Northwest Fire Centre will be considering exemptions for Category 3 fires, if a request is made in advance.
In order to qualify for an exemption, snow must be present, and photos of the burn area must be submitted.
You can send exemption requests to Brad Martin at Bradley dot Martin at Gov dot BC dot CA.
Open burning restrictions are currently in place in the Bulkley and Nadina Fire Zones, as well as the Old Kalum portion of the Skeena Fire Zone.
