The City of Terrace is among 8 communities, and one individual, in BC being honoured for their commitment to community-based economic development.
For the last 30 years, the BC Economic Development Association has recognized communities with their annual awards.
This year, Terrace took home one of two Economic Development Marketing Innovation Award for communities with a population above 20,000.
Terrace received the award in recognition of their Northwest BC Workforce and Resident Attraction Initiative, along with the District of Kitimat, City of Prince Rupert, Village of Hazelton, District of New Hazelton, and Regional District of Kitimat-Srikine.
In addition, the Association also named the inaugural winners for their Economic Reconciliation Award, which recognizes activities which advance Indigenous reconciliation.
Awardees include: the Neskonlith Indian Band for their Chase Harper Collaborative Community Management Plan, and the National Consortium for Indigenous Economic Development and TRICORP for their Indigenous ACE Program.
