A resolution that the City of Terrace sent the way of the North Central Local Government Association has elicited the kind of response they were looking for.
During the association’s annual convention that was held in Fort St John, they went over Terrace’s request for them to ask the provincial government to get the BC prosecution service to change up their catch and release style of dealing with prolific offenders and therefore protect public safety.
The association decided that they will join Terrace and several other BC communities in their support of this campaign to get the government to prevent prolific offenders from being immediately put back on the streets after committing a crime.
This resolution will be taken into consideration at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention, which takes place in September at Whistler and if it gets adopted, the Union will have present it to the government as a part of their issues list.
