A fire which levelled an apartment building in New Hazelton last week has been deemed suspicious.
Crews from the New Hazelton Fire Department were first alerted of the fire at 3513 Churchill Street at around 11:00 in the morning on May 5th.
When crews from both Hazelton and Gitanmaax arrived on-scene, they found the vacant Willow Dale apartment building fully engulfed in flames.
They were able to eventually extinguish the blaze, but not before the damage eliminated any plans to save the structure.
No injuries were reported, with the building having been vacant and up for sale at the time of the fire.
While fire crews have now deemed the blaze suspicious, they do not believe it to be the owner’s doing, as the building was uninsured at the time.
