You have a chance to be among the first to watch a new film about a group of courageous Elders from right here in Northwest BC.
Suitably titled Klabona, the film centres around a group of Elders known as the Klabona Keepers, and their on-going efforts to protect the Sacred Headwaters, known by the same name.
Spanning 15 years of matriarch-led resistance, the film follows the Elders from the Village of Iskut, as they push back against some of the world’s largest multinational companies.
A community screening was held for more than 100 attendees, and streamed to 300 more, on Wednesday at the Iskut Community Hall.
But if you missed that, fear not, a second screening is being held at the same location tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon.
After that, the film will make the rounds to film festivals around the world, including the Human Rights Film Festival in Toronto.
