Smithers residents living in the shelter trailer at Veterans Park will be allowed to remain there, once funding for the trailer runs out.
BC Housing had set the ATCO trailer up last November, as a means to provide shelter for those experiencing homelessness in the town.
Funding for the trailer was set to expire in March, but so far, has been re-upped each week, though that will eventually end as well.
During an emergency meeting from Tuesday, Council decided that when that time comes, residents will be allowed to continue to camp at the site.
Community members brought up concerns over the location of the trailer when the temporary use permit was first approved back in November.
However, it was ultimately deemed the best location for a temporary solution while they work out a permanent one.
