In honour of National Police Week, the Prince Rupert RCMP detachment is introducing their new officer in charge.
Sergeant Gerald Walker will be taking over the role, after serving the past 5 years in Lake Louise.
But Walker is no stranger to the northwest, with his mother born and raised in Prince Rupert, and having started his 21 year-policing career in Prince George.
Over the years, Sergeant Walker has also filled RCMP roles in the Yukon and Nunavut.
