New Covid cases dropped across BC last week, compared to the week before, according to the province’s most recent weekly update.
Between May 8th and the 14th, the province saw 1,645 new cases, down from 1,985 the week before.
Reported hospitalizations also went down, from 391 to 334, with 59 patients passing away after being diagnosed with Covid in the prior 30 days.
Northern Health saw a total of 93 new cases for the week, down from 97, with 18 hospitalizations, and 3 reported deaths.
By Local Health Area, Terrace saw 9 cases, Haida Gwaii and Burns Lake each saw 4, Prince Rupert reported 3, and Kitimat and Smithers each saw 2 new cases on the week.
However, with PCR testing limited across the province, the weekly counts are widely believed to underestimate the actual numbers.
