Terrace RCMP will be looking to increase their visible presence in the downtown core, as part of their strategic priorities for this year.
Priorities are split up in to 7 categories: crime reduction, mental health and addictions, intelligence, communication, attraction and retention, sexual assault, and relationships.
On top of their downtown presence, police look to increase the number of curfew checks on prolific offenders, as part of their crime reduction strategy.
They will also be looking to hold regular meetings with the Intensive Care Management Team and Northern Health regarding mental health and addictions, and increase referrals to those agencies.
Reconciliation will also be a key focus, with police increasing engagement initiatives with Indigenous communities, and cultural awareness initiatives.
