Honouring Our Children hosted a memorial ceremony at Terrace City Hall to honour the 215 Le Estcwicwe’y who were discovered in unmarked graves a year ago at the site of the former Kamloops Residential School.
Over 100 people turned up at the memorial in order to show support for Residential School survivors and families of those who were lost.
Multiple songs and dances were performed while several people stood up to tell their stories and send out messages.
Skeena Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach was able to attend in person and share what he took away from the ceremony.
Bachrach says that despite the fact that there is a roadmap for change, not nearly enough has been accomplished.
Speakers also stated that this memorial was only the beginning of the healing process.
