Quesnel’s Mayor Bob Simpson has sent out a public letter regarding the state of the pool upgrade project and what should be done about it.
Simpson revealed that the North Cariboo Joint Advisory Committee is planning to hold a referendum on what to do with the project before April 30th next year.
A referendum was also held last year about the project but Simpson pointed out that it doesn’t mean that elected leadership can’t hold another one and hope for a different outcome.
Another fact that was brought up is that Quesnel’s aquatic centre is 40 years old now and is in desperate need of an upgrade.
Even with the worry of how much it may cost, Simpson expressed his belief that if the city wants to keep the costs as low as possible, this upgrade needs to get done soon and that citizens will have to help pay for it regardless.
