A Smithers man has learned the hard way that posting video evidence of crimes to social media is probably not the best idea.
BC Highway Patrol became aware of a number of videos showcasing unsafe and aggressive driving circulating on social media.
Those videos depicted the same Dodge pick-up truck hitting speeds in excess of 160 km/h on local highways, consuming alcohol while driving, stunt driving without holding the steering wheel, and more.
On June 4th, officers pulled over a vehicle for speeding, and recognized both the truck, and the driver from the videos, due to his distinct tattoos.
Several opened bottles of alcohol were discovered in the truck during the stop and poured out roadside.
The 27 year-old driver was served with numerous violations in relation, had his vehicle impounded, and was served an inspection notice to address several vehicle defects.
