A request has been sent out for proposals to install two new 100 tonne truck scales at the Kitimat Landfill.
Interested parties must be capable of supplying, delivering, and installing the 40 foot by 10 foot scales at the Highway 37 landfill, 6.5 kms north of Kitimat.
Last year, the District implemented their curbside collection program to divert food waste, packaging, and printed paper to the landfill, on behalf of Recycle BC.
Currently, they are utlizing an off-site temporary truck scale, while they await the construction of a permanent scale facility.
A tender to complete the necessary work on the facility which will house the scales is currently up on BC Bid, and is set to close on June 30th.
That work is scheduled for substantial completion on September 2nd, with the same completion date targetted for the install and calibration of the scales.
Interested applicants should email Holly Thomopoulos at engineering@kitimat.ca.
