In order to bring it in line with recent legislative changes, the City of Terrace is looking to amend their Elections and Voting Procedures Bylaw.
Last year, the province made changes to the Local Government Act to allow all eligible voters to cast their vote via a mail in ballot.
Last night, City Council gave the first three readings to an amendment which would apply the same changes to their bylaw.
If adopted, the amendment would also raise the total number of nominators needed to run for a spot on Council from 2 to 10, and to 25 for mayoral candidates.
Council will vote on whether or not to adopt the changes at a future meeting.
