With river flows levelling out in recent days, most flood-related advisories and alerts in the Northwest have been called off.
A local state of emergency remains in place in Terrace, though it is solely to facilitate repairs to Frank Street to prevent future washout.
There is still one Flood Warning in place in the North, covering the Liard River and its tributaries near Fort Nelson and Watson Lake.
All evacuation alerts and orders that had been in place in the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine have now been lifted, along with a state of emergency covering Area “C”.
Evacuation alerts issued by the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako have also been lifted, as have those issued by the Town of Smithers.
According to the River Forecast Centre’s modelling, flows in Skeena and Bulkley rivers should stay calm through Thursday.
But, we aren’t completely in the clear yet, with the Centre forecasting possible 20 year flood levels in the Skeena and 100 year in the Bulkley beginning Friday.
