A much needed replacement for an aging gravel truck is going to cost the City of Terrace a bit more than they planned for.
Currently, the City operates three tandem trucks, which are used as dump trucks, as well as for snow and water removal, and more.
With one of those trucks in desperate need of replacing, the City earmarked $162,000 for the purchase of a new one last August.
But, due to a production freeze at the time, City staff were unable to get an accurate estimate for the cost of the new vehicle.
Now, the City has received a quote of $242,000, requiring a $90,000 budget increase, after a $10,000 contingency.
Funding to purchase the vehicle is being allocated from the Machinery and Equipment Reserve.
