Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert for the town of Smithers due to the rising amount of overdoses in the town.
The substance in question causing a lot of the overdoses is reportedly a deep burgundy colour while also being dense and chunky while also being sold as mixture of drugs known as “down”.
These drugs are supposedly highly toxic and can potentially cause memory loss and prolonged sedation if an overdose takes place.
Overdoses with this substance are reported to happen when it gets injected and smoked at the same time.
