A new drug checking machine has been installed in Terrace as an extra tool to help combat the toxic drug crisis.
With the help of trained Northern Health staff, the machine will allow residents to test the contents and toxicity of their drugs.
Using infrared technology, the machine is capable of testing a wide range of substances, including opioids, stimulants, and other phsychoactives such as MDMA.
Drug checking services will be available via the Northwest Intensive Case Management Team, located in the Stepping Stones Building at 4450 Greig Avenue.
Services will be available between 8:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
