Rehabilitation work on the Old Skeena Bridge in Terrace is tentatively scheduled to begin on July 18th.
But, little else about the Ministry of Transportation’s plans were revealed during a meeting, intended to update City Council on the project.
When asked to comment on the original traffic plan, Council responded with a number of suggested revisions, but have yet to hear back.
With traffic being routed over just one bridge while construction is underway, Council brought up concerns over both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
According to the Ministry, timing adjustments have been made to a pair of traffic signals in anticipation of the traffic increase.
One of those changes saw the left turn signal eliminated from the Kalum and Keith intersection.
Another saw them lower the amount of time it takes the light on Grieg Avenue, headed over the Sande Overpass, to change.
But, the Ministry says they are confident that no additional measures will be needed, though they will adjust if backlogs emerge.
Work on the bridge was initially planned to break during the winter season, but the Ministry says it may now run right through to September of 2023.
