A new BC Salmon Integrated Fisheries Management Plan for the 2022/23 season has been released by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
That plan outlines management policies, objectives, and decision guidelines for both existing and anticipated fisheries.
Developed in consultation with First Nations and stakeholders, the plan covers commercial, recreational, and First Nations fisheries in BC’s waters.
In order to meet conservation objectives, the plan ensures sufficient spawners to sustain population, while optimizing social and economical benefits.
Harvest opportunities will be provided where abundance permits, and measures, such as opening and closings, will be communicated as needed through the season.
You can follow this link to the full plan.
And this one to the Fisheries Notices page for updates throughout the season.
