While the number of properties sold in Northern BC were down in the first half of 2022, compared to 2021, the value of those properties was not.
According to the BC Northern Real Estate Board, 2,895 properties were sold for a total of $1.2 billion in the first 6 months of the year.
Over the same time period last year, 3,561 properties were sold, also for $1.2 billion.
Terrace saw 172 properties sold through June, at an average rate of $476,500, Prince Rupert saw 119 sales with an average of $445,000, and Kitimat saw 105 sales for an average of $357,000.
For detached residential homes, Smithers saw the highest average price at $570,000 in the North, while Mackenzie saw the lowest at $177,500.
