Passenger rail services in Canada will continue uninterrupted after VIA Rail and its employees came to a last minute agreement to avoid a strike.
On Firday, Unifor, who represent 2,400 VIA Rail employees, issued the corporation a 72-hour strike notice.
But, when a deal had still not been reached, the deadline was extended to 11:59 last night.
A tentative bargaining agreement has now been reached and is pending ratification from the employees.
VIA Rail says, so long as the agreement is ratified in time, there will be no related changes in service.
