RCMP teamed up with Bella Coola Valley Search and Rescue to extract an injured hiker from Nusatsum Mountain yesterday.
SAR teams were alerted to the hiker through a notification from his INREACH GPS at around 11:00 in the morning.
Luckily for them, and the hiker, RCMP helicopter Air 3 was already in Bella Coola for an unrelated matter, and was quickly dispatched to assist.
Two SAR personnel helped load the hiker on to the helicopter, which flew him to the airport, where he was transfered to an ambulance and taken to hospital.
RCMP say that, in this case, they were lucky that everyone happened to be in the right place at the right time.
