Kitimat’s RCMP detachment saw more requests for service in the month of May this year than any since the data began being recorded in 2008.
This year saw 422 files opened in May, compared to 401 last May, breaking the month’s previous record of 408, set in 2013.
Wellbeing checks and mental health related calls each saw 40 of those files, tied for the most among any individual category.
Suspicious person, vehicle, or occurrence reports led to 36 files, while Motor Vehicle Tickets and warnings saw 63 files combined.
That comes following an April which saw the detachment open 392 files, the second most recorded in the month of April, tailing only 2014.
Through May, the detachment is averaging 356 cases per month, which would be the third most of any year on record.
