A housing project in Kitimat has received a second development permit, after Covid prevented initial plans from going ahead.
In 2019, the District awarded the first permit to IAG Enterprises to bring a 35 unit multi-family strata development to the community.
But, a shortage of workers and the need to prioritize other projects during the pandemic forced them to put the project on the backburner.
Now, they have been awarded a second permit, which will allow them to bring 34 residential units to the corner of Nalabila Boulevard and Wakita Avenue.
Those units will be split across 7 building blocks with a shared roofline, with each unit covering between 1,300 and 1,800 square feet and featuring its own garage and driveway.
Some changes to the initial proposal were made after discussions with staff and council, including landscaping changes to enhance aesthetics, and safety of the walkway system.
