Canadian Coast Guard crews and contractors will be on Haida Gwaii the next few months to improve and rebuild navigation aids.
In addition to repairing the Aids to Navigation, crews will also be constructing new helipads in several locations to improve safety for technicians.
Crews will be conducting the work between August 15th and October 25th, during which time residents will notice increased helicopter traffic.
Both the Daajing Giids helipad and K’il Kun airport will see higher traffic as two crews will be picked up and dropped off daily.
Beginning on August 25th, there will also be tug and barge contractors at various locations near the Coast Guard stations to help transfer crew and materials.
