Residents of a number of northern communities are being encouraged to apply for a new program which will teach them how to defuse racist incidents.
Successful applicants will be taught how to train others in their community on how to address racist incidents and facilitate community dialogues.
Developed and delivered by the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Training Centre Society, the pilot project is the first anti-racism training of its kind.
Residents are being encouraged to apply for the pilot from Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Houston, Fort St John, and Dawson Creek, among others.
