A water quality advisory which had been lifted by the City of Prince Rupert Wednesday evening has been re-issued.
On Saturday, the City issued a boil water notice due to low chlorination levels in the water supply, but it was reduced to a water quality advisory hours later.
After being lifted for close to 24 hours, the City has decided to reinstate the water quality advisory, which is the lowest form of alert, out of precaution.
Only water intended for ingestion by the immune compromised, elderly, pregnant women, and children under 2 years-old needs to be boiled prior to consumption.
Business owners are also required to post notices at all publicly accessible sinks or drinking water fountains, or turn them off.
According to the City, an update will be provided after they complete water sampling over the weekend.
