British Columbians are being urged to plan, prepare, and be aware of the wildfire situation as risks are expected to remain high through the summer.
Over the past 7 days, there have been 154 new wildfires in the province, though 121 of those are being held, under control, or have been extinguished.
Sustained above seasonal temperatures have the Wildfire Service anticipating more fire starts, but say they are prepared to activate more resources if needed.
There are currently 62 active wildfires in the province, with 6 listed as fires of note, all of which are in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres.
At the moment, Category 2 and 3 open burning is banned across the province, while campfires are also banned in the Coastal, Kamloops, and Southeast Fire Centres.
