While it is still covering 50 hectares, the Wildfire Service is now listing a blaze near Rosswood as “being held”.
That fire was sparked near the intersection of Kalum Lake Road and the South Douglas Forest Service Road, and is believed to be human caused.
A team of six water skimmer planes departed Terrace this morning, soaking the fire to give ground crews to get better control, allowing them to work to extinguish the flames.
While the fire has not impacted any homes, it has grown within the logging block and a nearby upslope to the east.
Meanwhile, a separate blaze along the Stikine River, west of the southern tip of Mount Edziza Provincial Park, is now listed as out of control, though it is covering less than a hectare.
