A group of Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs are on Tsleil-Waututh territory in Vancouver today as they continue their cross-Canada tour.
Dubbed the Strengthening our Sovereignty: Nation to Nation Tour, the trip will see them visit a number of other Indigenous communities over 18 days.
Their tour got started earlier this month, with a visit with the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council in Ontario.
After a number of meetings with Nations in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, the Chiefs are back in BC today as they begin the final leg of the tour.
Today, they met with the Tsleil-Waututh Nation Sacred Trust, holding a press conference at noon before a march and rally in Vancouver.
During the trip, the Chiefs seek to discuss development, land disputes, government issues, and other challenges facing First Nations, as they look to strengthen unity and solidarity.
