Skeena MLA, and one of Canada’s most vocal LNG supporters, Ellis Ross, has invited Germany’s head of state to visit Kitimat.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be visiting Canada next week to discuss energy security, among other topics.
During the trip, Scholz will make stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Stephenville, Newfoundland, the proposed site of a first-of-its-kind wind-to-hydrogen energy plant.
But Ross wants Scholz to extend the visit to Kitimat to tour the LNG Canada site, and discuss the benefits it brings.
He says that, amid current energy concerns surrounding the Russia-Ukraine War, LNG could be a large step toward energy sovereignty, and a carbon neutral future.
Scholz will be in Canada between Sunday and Wednesday of next week, when he is slated to sign a new green energy agreement with Canada.
