Three northerners are among 34 education professionals nominated as finalists for this year’s Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education.
This year’s awards will honour 10 teachers, principals, administrators, leaders, and support staff who strive to improve the lives of K-12 students.
Birdy Markert, the Bulkley Valley School District’s Principle of Indigenous Education, is among two nominees in the Indigenous Education category.
Custodial manager Rolanda Lavallee, also from the Bulkley Valley District, is a nominee for the School Community Support award.
And Edith Lynne Brissard, a teaching assistant at Chetwynd Secondary School, is nominated in the Teaching Assistant Support category.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Victoria on October 15th, with the 10 winners receiving a $3,000 bursary for professional learning, along with a contribution to their school.
