Two Indigenous communities in the North are among 8 splitting $20 million in joint federal-provincial funding to go toward various infrastructure projects.
In Bella Bella, $5 million in funding will help the Heiltsuk First Nation construct a new road to safely connect their community to the airport.
It will also allow for the existing road will be converted into a pedestrian and bike path, supporting active transportation.
Nearly $400,000 in funding will also go to the Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation to construct two green houses, two walk-in freezers, and a canning shed to advance food security.
