After spending a little over a week on job action, the B.C. General Employees’ Union will now be returning to negotiations with the Public Service Agency.
This comes a day after the Union had banned all their members, outside of B.C. Wildfire employees, from working any overtime hours.
This strike originates from bargaining talks breaking down between the union and the agency earlier in the year and the union put out a 72-hour strike notice back on August 12th.
Reports say that the union turned down the agency’s initial offer of an 11 per cent salary increase over three years and a $2,500 signing bonus.
The union represents over 33,000 provincial workers and over 95 percent of said workers decided to go on this strike.
Neither the agency or the union will be giving out any information to the media while these talks are ongoing.
