In order to help meet the demand for more nurses in BC, the Province is starting up a new bursary program.
This program will help BC’s Health-care assistants when it comes to paying their finances and by proxy, help them develop their skills and hopefully further their careers in medicine.
The bursary fund has a total of $3 million dollars available and can be accessed by health care assistants at a qualifying public post-secondary institution until May 31st of 2024 through the practical nursing program.
One of the qualifying institutions in the north for the program is Coast Mountain College and eligible assistants will receive a total of $10,000 to cover their education costs.
However, in order to get access to the funding, assistants will need to sign a 12-month return-of-service agreement and commit to working in the health-care system following their graduation.
