Welcome to an episode of Journeys with Kelly Kenny. Tonight is the third part of the three part series of our conversation with Meeka Morgan. Meeka Morgan is the artistic director of 2 Rivers remix. I spoke to Meeka about her and her teams free multi day music festival which has since pivoted into what they call a “moveable feast”. The team at 2 Rivers remix has witnessed the healing that this music festival can bring to the people and that’s what the team at 2 Rivers Remix continues to focus on and what drives them to continue. In this third part of the three part series we talk about how all the occupations and decisions had let Meeka down this path and in her words like a beautiful kaleidoscope. Meeka states how beautiful it was to spend time with her late father at the music festival and witnessing her father and other elders feel safe in such a way that has not experienced in a long while this is what helped her realize that these environments need to be created more often.
Did I mention that these festivals are free to attend so if you have a chance head on down to the locations or you can virtually attend the festival. The upcoming dates for this moveable feast or August 23 in Williams lake first nation and then Okanagan Indian band on August 25.
