During the Prince Rupert City Council meeting that took place last night, the city’s Fire Chief made a request that council adopt a Fire safety inspection plan that the fire department had created.
Prince Rupert’s Fire Department previously had conducted safety inspections without an official system in place but when the pandemic hit, the department thought it was best to create official definitions to this process as they were not able to conduct inspections for a while.
Namely, it was determined how frequently certain buildings needed an inspection with most needing one at least every one or two years.
Council was all in favor of implementing the system, as with restrictions no longer being in place, it will be easier for the department to conduct their inspections.
