It was announced earlier today that over $21 million in funding is going to be heading the way of the BC Construction Association.
These funds came from the Government of Canada’s Apprenticeship Service in order to create around 2,100 1st year apprenticeships so that BC’s construction industry can gain more employees.
Employers that are participating with this program will get $5,000 by hiring any worker as well as an additional $5,000 for hiring someone who identifies as a new Canadian, a woman, Indigenous, a person with a disability, or a visible minority.
Right now, BC’s Construction Industry has most companies only employing about 20 workers or less.
First-year apprentices in eligible Red Seal trades are expected to get a lot more on the job experience and training as well as connections as they progress their way to becoming competent construction workers.
