Earlier today, B.C.’s Minister of Citizens’ Services, Lisa Beare, announced that around $9.8 million in funding has been committed to improving internet connectivity for about 1,600 households in Chetwynd.
This funding comes from both the Federal and the Provincial government and it is also apart of a $24-million joint commitment to bring high speed internet to rural areas of Northern BC.
This commitment stems from an agreement between both governments to invest as much as $830 million to make sure that all BC residents in rural, Indigenous and remote communities have access to high speed internet within the next few years.
Connecting Communities BC is the next phase of British Columbia’s program meant to improve connectivity and it’s also yet another part of the StrongerBC Economic Plan.
