With negotiations between the B.C. General Employees’ Union and the Provincial Government reportedly going well, the Union and their members decided to end their strike at two weeks.
Both sides will continue talking as they seek to complete a new deal but for now, the union’s ban on their members working overtime has been lifted as a gesture of good faith.
The strike originated from bargaining talks breaking down between the union and the province earlier this year.
Reports say that the union turned down an initial offer of an 11 per cent salary increase over three years and a $2,500 signing bonus.
The union represents over 33,000 provincial workers and over 95 percent of those workers decided to go on strike.
