News of a shooting incident nearby Houston that involved police has made its way to the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia.
It was the RCMP itself that informed the IIO of this particular case.
Yesterday at around 3:40 in the morning, Houston RCMP members responded to a report of a break and enter case that also involved the theft of a boat.
This report’s location was around 50 km north of Highway 16 between Houston and Burns Lake.
After staging a bridge in the area, police saw a vehicle drive near their location towing what was believed to be the stolen boat and according to police, one of the officers fired their pistol at the approaching vehicle.
The vehicle’s driver sustained a non-life threatening injury and had to be taken to a EHS for medical assessment.
Both the driver and a passenger were arrested in connection with the investigation into the theft and as of now, the IIO is investigating the actions of the police in this case.
No more information on the case is expected to be released by the RCMP.
