Rehabilitation work on the Hagensborg Bridge, near Bella Coola, is expected to begin this Fall.
Enviro-Ex Contracting has been awarded the $2.7 million provincial project, which will replace the current two jump spans with a single span concrete girder.
But in order to facilitate the work, the bridge, which crosses the Bella Coola River on Salloompt Road, will need to be shut down for 4 weeks.
During that time, all vehicle access will be cut-off, but pedestrian access will be possible outside of some short-term complete closures.
While closures are in place, residents north of the bridge will have limited access to fuel, waste services, septic services, and more, and are being advised to plan ahead.
No exact start date for construction has been determined yet, though a minimum of 4 weeks notice will be provided on the project site, linked here.
