Welcome to an Episode of Journeys with Kelly Kenny. I am so excited to share my conversation with music producer and recording artist Mattmac! Mattmac hails from Garden Hill first nation Manitoba. He started singing at the age of four as he grew he began to struggle with depression and he credits music for helping him cope. Mattmac is a fully self-taught artist he began to make beats and write songs when he was 13 years old and later taught him self how to play piano and guitar. In 2016 he worked with N’we Jinan and wrote a song with them along with the music video. From there he was able to perform with Canadian music artist, Nelly Furtado. Since collaborating with Nelly Mattmac has been a busy man making new songs and creating new music videos. I think once you know that this inspiring young man has been visually impaired since birth and had never given up on what he wanted out of life … he works everyday either on his craft of music or his business building. I find Mattmac to be inspiration as he is so humble and so relatable! And what truly influences me is Mattmac desire to use his platform to inspire others to know that they can accomplish anything they said they’re mine to.
