More than two thirds of Hudson’s Hope residents have now registered with Emergency BC after the province’s largest active fire forced their evacuation.
Most of the District’s roughly 900 residents have been sent to Fort St John, following evacuation orders which were extended this weekend.
Those orders were prompted by a now 30,000 hectare blaze burning just west of the community in Battleship Mountain.
BC Wildfire crews have been using infrared technology to scan and map the fire’s perimeter, and used a number of planned burns to restrict its growth.
As of last night, the Service had 46 crew members on site fighting the blaze, alongside 56 structure protection crew members.
