In the early evening this past Tuesday, Prince George RCMP frontline officers, an RCMP helicopter and other subsections of the police were searching for a suspect seen fleeing from a recently stolen vehicle.
Some witnesses saw the vehicle near Austin Road and Highway 97 and recognized it as one that was stolen from the Chetwynd area before they called the police.
Officers immediately arrived on the scene in full force before they got word that the suspected car thief and driver fled on foot.
The suspect was found not too far away from the scene on the 3700-block of Winslow Drive and he was arrested without incident.
Police were also able to recover the stolen vehicle and get it back to it’s owner.
The suspect was identified as 37-year old Sorrento resident, Blaine Malcolm Douglas, and he will remain in the community until his next court appearance after being given a release order.
This case is still under investigation.
