A partnership between the Provincial Government and the Northwest BC Resource Benefits Alliance is being created in order to help better understand the needs of northwestern and rural communities.
A recently signed memorandum of understanding looks to strengthen the partnership between the two parties, outlines common goals, snd sets out principles for future engagement.
The memorandum is also intended to help share knowledge between the two parties as they look to talk over and deal with the unique problems in the region.
Under the MoU, the two parties will look to move forward on a revenue sharing agreement which the Alliance has been working toward for years.
Minister of Municipal Affairs Nathan Cullen says that the government is committed to listening to northern and rural voices.
21 local governments from throughout northwestern BC are represented by the Resource Benefits Alliance.
