Grand Chief Stewart Phillip has been re-elected to serve his ninth consecutive term as President of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.
With no one coming forward to run against him, Phillip was acclaimed to the position, which he has held for the last 24 years, yesterday.
Prior to that, the Grand Chief served another 24 years on the Penticton Indian Band Council, highlighting his lifelong dedication.
Phillip says that he and the Chiefs Council will continue to advocate for equity, address climate change, and more as they work to emerge from what he calls a pervasive colonial hangover.
