New federal funding will help BC communities recover from this year’s floods and fires, and help the province better prepare for future climate emergencies.
Ottawa is investing $5.5 million in the Community Futures Development Association of BC to help implement their disaster recovery and economic adjustment initiative.
That initiative will provide training and coaching services for businesses and non-profits in communities impacted by floods and wildfires.
In addition to customized training, the program will provide businesses with access to economic recovery and disaster relief planning ambassadors.
In addition, the Government is working to develop Canada’s first National Adaptation Strategy, to better combat climate-related emergencies in the future.
