It ended up being a costly fishing trip for a group of US citizens caught violating BC’s regulations near Bella Coola yesterday.
Each of the 5 fisherman were handed a $525 fine after being caught in the act by Conservation Officers during a raft patrol in the Dean River.
According to the Conservation Officer Service, they had been using barbed hooks, in contravention of the BC Sport Fishing Regulations.
Officers are now reminding residents to know the rules before hitting the waters, to avoid a hefty fine of their own.
